Hello! I'm so glad that you want to learn to knit. My name is Nikki and I'm here to help you all the way through your knitting journey. 

It can all feel a bit overwhelming to begin with, but don't worry - we'll get you get started with your very first project. 

We all have to start somewhere, and I'm here, along with the knitting membership group, to support you the whole way though. 

I have taught a lot of people to knit using The Clyd Scarf pattern, and it's designed to help you practice and become confident in your first knitting stitches - the knit stitch, the purl stitch and how to cast on and cast off. 

If you're in the Knitting Membership, please do join us on our Zoom groups to not only share how you're getting on, but also to ask any questions you have. The community groups and chat are also there for you to post your accomplishments as well as asking for a bit of extra support.

2. Understanding the pattern

Your first project

Have you always wanted to learn to knit but haven’t known where to start? We’re here to help!I designed this scarf pattern specifially to teach with. It uses only two stitches - the knit stitch and the purl stitch - and also teaches you to cast on and cast off. This scarf is a simple repeating pattern where you will either knit or purl the whole row, so you can practice keeping your edges straight, and getting your stitches even. I will take you through how to make each of the stitches you will use, how to read the pattern, and how to finish your scarf off at the end to make it look fabulous.
